Poets Are

Poets are observers of what is on the surface and what is buried below. Poets are eavesdroppers who hear bits and pieces of talk that become silver and gold. Poets are truth-sayers. They can’t put words on paper without changing the world. Poets are enchanted maids dusting away cobwebs of the mind. Poets are pilgrims discovering new lands and cultures. Poets are explorers traveling in uncharted chambers of the heart. Poets are magicians juggling rhythm and rhyme, sense and sound. Poets are kings and queens of the written word
in all its sparkling formats

About Joe Sottile: Joe Sottile is a former teacher, children’s author, poet, performer and essayist. His essays have been published regionally and nationally, including two stories in the Chicken Soup series. He was a poetry enrichment instructor for B. O. C E. S., and he doesn’t truly feel alive unless he is engaged in writing workshops or performing poetry for kids. Does poetry matter? Waiting to See the Principal and Can Poetry Save the Planet? Answer that question in a convincing manner. Does sunshine matter?
