Children’s Ezine Guardian Angel Kids: Fun with Music – August 2012 Issue

Welcome to the August 2012 issue of Guardian Angel Kids Ezine. We call it GAK because that’s the name of our gecko mascot!

This month we celebrate the Fun of Music. The GAK staff can’t think of anything more universal than children enjoying music. They learn to respond and participate to music at a very early age.

As a child, Guardian Angel Publishing and Guardian Angel Kids publisher, Lynda S. Burch, loved to sing in the choir, learned the piano, and taught herself to play the organ. She enjoyed playing in the high school band from 7th grade through senior year of high school. She played the clarinet, soprano clarinet, and alto clarinet. Ms. Burch also sang in the school chorus and smaller groups and competed around the state just like Glee.

As an adult Ms. Burch always made up songs and sang them to kids. One day she decided to write and record them instead of just singing them. These songs turned into over a hundred musical children’s books to be played on computers. Ms. Burch’s extended family from around the globe break into song about the weather, fun noodles in the swimming pool, or even a new alphabet song. What fun she has had with these musical books!

We hope you develop a love for music as much as Ms. Burch and the GAK staff have.

YOUNG MUSES/CHILDREN SUBMISSIONS

Guardian Angel Kids accepts submissions from children up to 12. Topics and guidelines are the same as adult submissions below, including payment.

Fiction

Up to 500 words. Picture stories: adventure, animal, humorous, multicultural, nature/environment, problem-solving, sports. Character driven stories that children will be able to relate to.

articles

Up to 500 words. Articles may include activities, animals, arts/crafts, concept, cooking, math, nature/environment, problem-solving, science.

Parent/Teacher articles

Up to 700 words. Articles on parenting, teaching, reading, writing, and relating to the mission of the Guardian Angel Kids website.

Poetry

Kid-oriented poetry. Poems must be well written with no forced rhyme and roll off the tongue.

The Guardian Angel Kids creative crew is pleased to announce the new Ezine format. The inviting visual will take the reader on a turn page style adventure with the click of the mouse accompanied with the sound of turning a page in your hand. Without further ado, we present the Guardian Angel Kids Growing Up June 2012 issue…

The carefree days of childhood invokes memories of lazy days of summer vacation filled with days of swimming at the town pool. It was the central social point of the neighborhood and the excitement of the day would then flow onto our cul-de-sac (after the children of the neighborhood ate their respective suppers) where there was always a stick ball game going on until the single street light flickered on. Quickly we would change gears and switch to playing flashlight tag. My mother, always an avid reader, made sure her children read each and every day and to this day we all have instilled the same love of reading with our own children. Without lapsing in our reading skills throughout the summer we were always well prepared with our studies. The days appeared endless and before you knew it, it was time for back to school shopping.

The love of reading has led me to the path of writing for children and Editor-in-Chief of Guardian Angel Publishing, for which I’m joyful for and proud to present the Guardian Angel Kids June 2012 issue of Growing Up www.guardian-angel-kids.com.

Children’s Ezine Guardian Angel Kids: Siblings – January 2012 Issue

The beginning of a new year usually brings a time of reflection on the year gone by and hopes of the new year filled with health, happiness, and success. As I get older, I conduct a mental housecleaning of simplifying my life and taking a concerted effort to enjoy the moment of the current day, instead of worrying about the "what if's", because often times the "what's if's" don't even come into play. It takes time to break the "what if" habit, try it today and focus in on your tasks of the day instead of obsessing about tomorrow. I know for myself I find myself not as drained if I focus on the here and now, instead of what I think the coming days, weeks, and months should be.

Our January 2012 theme for the month is all about siblings. Come along and reminisce about your childhood through the delightful poetry and stories in this month's issue and don't forget to share your memories with your children.

Children’s Ezine Guardian Angel Kids: Faith – December 2011 Issue

When you think of Christmas, what comes to mind? The smell of cookies baking in the oven and the refreshing aroma of pine trees? Twinkling lights, fancy packages, and crowded stores?

This month our theme for Guardian Angel Kids is Faith. Why not take a few moments out of your hectic schedule to stop, sit down with your child, and talk about the real meaning of Christmas? Let's remember that the celebration is about the birth of a Savior, Jesus Christ. We celebrate His birth because of our faith in Him (See Luke 2:4-19).

Children’s Ezine Guardian Angel Kids: Dogs – November 2011 Issue

This time of the year brings back fond childhood memories of riding bicycles through the neighborhood with the leaves swirling around the wheel spokes and my collie, Champ, running alongside. What better way to spend a crisp autumn day but with the companionship of one’s dog. Looking back on this memory, the simplicity of the day is what captivates me the most. YOUNG MUSES/CHILDREN SUBMISSIONS:

Guardian Angel Kids is pleased to announce we are now accepting submissions from children up to 12. Topics and guidelines are the same as adult submissions below, including payment.

FICTION:

Up to 500 words. Picture stories: adventure, animal, humorous, multicultural, nature/environment, problem-solving, sports. Character driven stories that children will be able to relate to.

ARTICLES:

Up to 500 words. Articles may include activities, animals, arts/crafts, concept, cooking, math, nature/environment, problem-solving, science.

PARENT/TEACHER ARTICLES:

Up to 700 words. Articles on parenting, teaching, reading, writing, and relating to the mission of the Guardian Angel Kids website.
POETRY:

Kid-oriented poetry. Poems must be well written with no forced rhyme and roll off the tongue.
