Children’s Ezine Guardian Angel Kids: Volunteerism – November 2012 Issue

Do you remember the first time you volunteered? Perhaps you volunteered to help mom in the kitchen. Could it be that you offered to lick the spoon after she made fudge? Dad might have been making sandwiches for lunch and you made the tremendous sacrifice to eat the leftovers.

This kind of volunteerism is wonderful, but do YOU have a ‘spirit of service’? How would that look? The next time your local food pantry serves meals to the homeless, you could go help make the sandwiches. You could serve the meals and thank God that you have a home and food to eat. Do you look for ways to help others that do not benefit you, other than the tremendous satisfaction you’ll receive from truly thinking of others? That’s a spirit of service.

Children’s Ezine Guardian Angel Kids: Fun with Music – August 2012 Issue

Welcome to the August 2012 issue of Guardian Angel Kids Ezine. We call it GAK because that’s the name of our gecko mascot!

This month we celebrate the Fun of Music. The GAK staff can’t think of anything more universal than children enjoying music. They learn to respond and participate to music at a very early age.

As a child, Guardian Angel Publishing and Guardian Angel Kids publisher, Lynda S. Burch, loved to sing in the choir, learned the piano, and taught herself to play the organ. She enjoyed playing in the high school band from 7th grade through senior year of high school. She played the clarinet, soprano clarinet, and alto clarinet. Ms. Burch also sang in the school chorus and smaller groups and competed around the state just like Glee.

As an adult Ms. Burch always made up songs and sang them to kids. One day she decided to write and record them instead of just singing them. These songs turned into over a hundred musical children’s books to be played on computers. Ms. Burch’s extended family from around the globe break into song about the weather, fun noodles in the swimming pool, or even a new alphabet song. What fun she has had with these musical books!

We hope you develop a love for music as much as Ms. Burch and the GAK staff have.

Children’s Ezine Guardian Angel Kids: Proud to be American – May 2012 Issue

Do you recall a time when someone said they were proud of you? How did it make you feel? Did you stand a wee bit taller? I know for myself the memory of my parents stating they were proud of me made me want to do better each day. Have you ever taken it one step further and thought what it means to be a proud American? As American citizens we live in a democracy where we have freedom of speech and religion, the right to our own opinion, freedom to choose where we want to live and work, and the opportunity for an education. These freedoms do not just come along without sacrifice. YOUNG MUSES/CHILDREN SUBMISSIONS:

Guardian Angel Kids is pleased to announce we are now accepting submissions from children up to 12. Topics and guidelines are the same as adult submissions below, including payment.

FICTION:

Up to 500 words. Picture stories: adventure, animal, humorous, multicultural, nature/environment, problem-solving, sports. Character driven stories that children will be able to relate to.

ARTICLES:

Up to 500 words. Articles may include activities, animals, arts/crafts, concept, cooking, math, nature/environment, problem-solving, science.

PARENT/TEACHER ARTICLES:

Up to 700 words. Articles on parenting, teaching, reading, writing, and relating to the mission of the Guardian Angel Kids website.
POETRY:

Kid-oriented poetry. Poems must be well written with no forced rhyme and roll off the tongue.
