Marketing Tips & Inspiration: Repurposing Your Videos and Book Trailers

Marketing Tips & Inspiration at Write What Inspires You!

Repurposing Your Videos and Book Trailers

by Donna McDine

A book trailer or video of you reading your book live is an important tool for your marketing toolbox. You may be thinking, once I have these videos what do I do with them after I have them posted on my website and blog?

Here are my suggested tips:

  1. Create a YouTube channel and post your videos there, then promote away.
  2. Share your book trailer and your video reading your book live with your publisher.
  3. If you read your book live via Facebook, copy the link to the following website https://www.getfvid.com/downloader and they will convert your Facebook live video to an .mp3 video that is suitable for upload to YouTube. Once your video is live on YouTube you can then copy the html code and embed it into your website and blog. Now your videos are in several places.
  4. When you reach out to school's for school visits, provide the book trailer as well.
  5. Share a link to your videos in your newsletter. If you don't have a newsletter, it's important that you create one and start promoting it to obtain opt-in subscribers.

Good luck with repurposing your videos. How do you use your videos in your book promotion?

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. I'd enjoy the exchange of information.

  1. We don't do many book trailers anymore - took too long and they were a drain on my illustrator - but I've encouraged my authors this year to create videos of them reading their books. We've shared them all over the place.

  2. My publisher put them on YouTube and I have them featured on my website.

  3. I've thought about doing a video, but haven't a clue how. Played with it a little, but I look so like me.
