Today's word is Xenophile...
Definition:
noun
a person who is attracted to foreign peoples, cultures, or customs.
The furthest I've been is to the Dominican Republic and I enjoyed it immensely to learn about their way of life. It's an eye opener that while people have their own customs and ways of doing things, the underlining belief I find is always to do best by one's family.
I look forward to hearing all about your attraction to Xenophile.

I am pure Xenophile when I am reading. I love to time travel, space travel and culture travel and be part of their lives and see how they see, feel and love.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm curious in real life too. :)

DeleteNarrow minds come from no exposure to a world beyond one's back yard. I'm fortunate I've lived in several foreign countries and been exposed to a wife variety of people.
ReplyDeleteI've only been to Canada so far, but I would love to go to Europe and see all the counties and sights.

Ahhh, Europe. My daughter just went to Italy. It was truly the experience of a lifetime!
DeleteI did a year abroad in Germany, which included 2 weeklong trips, one to Prague and one to Berlin. This was a time when Prague and East Berlin were both under communist rule. I went with one of our chaperones to a big department store in East Berlin--- she needed to buy vacuum cleaner bags for an East German made vacuum cleaner. Amazing to see such a large store with such a tiny selection of consumer goods--- except in the book department which was absolutely filled with Communist books such as the complete works of Karl Marx and V. I. Lenin.
ReplyDeleteI can't travel now, but I love listening to Internet radio from other countries. I listen to a lot of radio from Croatia and Serbia and am learning some of the language (because I have some Serbian-American friends.)

Absolutely fascinating! Have to say I'm a bit jealous!
DeleteYou never learn more about yourself and others than when you travel to or live in another country.
ReplyDeleteSo very truly. Traveling the Dominican Republic a few years ago was an eye opener!
DeleteTraveling to other places sounds fun and exotic. The thing that holds me back is not having the funds to do so.
ReplyDeleteIf only we had a money tree!
DeleteSadly the only other country I've been to is Canada. But I would love to go to Mexico, the Greek Islands, England, Scotland, Ireland, and especially Prague.
ReplyDeleteThat's terrific on Canada and love your wish list!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter is such a xenophile. She loves learning about other cultures.

Good for her!
DeleteIt's a popular subject today. Via the web we can all experience other cultures. I wish more folks were open to them. We need to end the fear and become a true world community!
ReplyDeleteI love learning about other cultures and traveling to other countries. The farthest I've been is Belize. By way of cruises, I've been to many places in the Caribbean. I want to see Europe soon.
